Hospices Make Super Bowl Challenge
Lincolnton/Charlotte, NC
02/03/2016 10:49 AM

Super Bowl bets between mayors are common and now the cities two hospice organizations are locked in a competition to see which organization can receive the largest donations for their community food banks by Friday, February 5th.

Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region was contacted by Denver Hospice on January 27 to talk about the big game. What started with a friendly “let’s exchange Panthers/Broncos spirit photos” quickly turned into a measurable competition between the two hospices; a competition that will also require all the help they can muster from their respective communities.

The agreement is that the hospices will compete to see who can secure the most food donations to Second Harvest Food Bank by February 5, the Friday before the big game. The food donations will be weighed and the hospice with the most pounds will be declared the winner.

“We are excited to accept Denver Hospice’s challenge that will benefit so many people in our community,” said Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region President and CEO Pete Brunnick. “With the support of all our friends and supporters, we fully expect HPCCR will win this challenge, just like the Panthers will win the Super Bowl.”

Brunnick says his team is off to a good start.

“We have two elementary schools and a middle school supporting our challenge so far, as well as our cities leading legal, accounting, and financial firms. But we need all the help we can get, so we hope others will support us in this as part of supporting our Panthers.”

To learn more about the HPCCR and Denver Hospice challenge and how you can make your food donations count, contact Cindy Tilley, Vice President Human Resources, at 704.335.3503.

"We joined the Chamber prior to our opening in 2021 and have been so happy we did. They worked with us to have a ribbon cutting to highlight our grand opening, along with hosting several events with us since we've joined. We've been able to appeal to many new customers with these events that we may not have reached otherwise! It is a great way to involve yourself in the local business community with unlimited networking opportunities. "
